The new province
of Ogliastra
|
Unknown until a few decades
ago, the Ogliastra just become the province (OG), is
considered one of the most beautiful in the world.
Anyone
who arrives there can not remain fascinated.
It overlooks the east coast
of Sardinia on the Tyrrhenian Sea, just below the Gulf of
Orosei, and ends at the foot of the mountains of Gennargentu.
The landscape is divided
between white expanses of fine sand, crystal clear water,
rocks overhanging the sea, woods and arid desert plains.
What dell'Ogliastra is a landscape still untouched and wild,
pride of its people, object of desire for tourists. With
roughly 1700 sq km, the Ogliastra is a land border between
two worlds: the agricultural and southern pastoral the
center of Sardinia, where land and focus all the many faces
of Sardinian culture, traditions, nature and history.
Throughout history
the region has suffered isolation and a limited economic
development because economy is still based
largely on grazing el'allevamento and the important wine
production and dairy.
The natural beauty have
also allowed the development of tourism industry,
which has begun to exploit not only the beautiful coast area
but also, and equally beautiful yet unknown, in the
hinterland.
